My name is Louis Shanks and I am a Senior Escalation Engineer on the IE Core team. I wanted to share with you a very interesting issue I worked on recently. The problem came in as Vista users were not able to access any external websites;

re: Automatic Proxy Configuration Script failing on Vista

Hey there, nice post!

I have similar problem, but im my case the registry entry is correctly pointing to %systemroot%\system32\jsproxy.dll ...

Still, the IE8 does *not* look at the proxy.pac file, but it has been downloaded to the client.

Any help on this?

Regards,

Checked the registry key, and it was OK.

The only way to make it work is to turn off Protected Mode of Internet Explorer 8 in Internet Zone.

Is there any other way to keep PAC script working while keeping protected mode on (I have UAC on Vista enabled as well)?

re: Automatic Proxy Configuration Script failing on Vista

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along.
