I'd like to back up ShadowChaser's comment. C# express is _much_ less stable than the May release. So far, I've not been able to use it for more than 2 minutes before it either crashes or starts using 60% CPU for no reason.

And to pre-empt your question, yes I'm submitting watson reports and creating Product Feedback issues.

I'm seriously considering reverting to the May release. I reckon I only ever saw MayCTP crash twice in a couple of weeks heavy use. Failing that, I may learn about the beauty of MSBuild and develop in Notepad...

I've also been unable to get either C# Express or VWD to save configuration data (ie toolbar visibility or Tools->Options data). I'm waiting to see if I can find out more information before I file a report.

To address the first comment, when you saw C# crash in the IDE and during setup, did you report the problem back to Microsoft? If so, we can look up your problem report on the server side and try to track down the root cause.

For the crash during setup in particular, could you give us some more details about when during setup it happened? Was it during download or during installation? Do you remember what the error message said?

To address the 2nd comment, the top of the msdn.microsoft.com/express site is still pointing to the normal beta1 versions. However, if you scroll down on each version's details page and look at the Express Headlines section, there is a link for the October 2004 Community Technology Preview.

am i see it correctly, that from the msdn.microsoft.com/express site are still the normal beta1 versions available?

Having C# Express crash when I clicked on the File menu probably isn't a good thing. It also crashed during the install, had to try about three times until it worked.

No offense, but I think I'll wait until Beta 2 :-)
