The Office Sustained Engineering team have put together a great FAQ blog on the recently (partially) released SP2 and April Cumulative updates. Please see http://blogs.technet.com/office_sustained_engineering/archive/2009/05/01/faq-concerning-cumulative-updates-for-april-2009-and-the-service-pack-2-for-the-2007-microsoft-office-system-and-microsoft-office-servers.aspx for the full details.
These cover the Microsoft Office System and Microsoft Office Servers, including Project Server 2007.
In case you wondered – this is the team that put together the updates – so well worth bookmarking their blog – or subscribing to their feed.
Now have Windows 7 RC on my laptop – and Windows Server 2008 R2 RC on my main desk workstation. I use the laptop quite a bit as I spend a fair bit of time not in my cube in Sammamish but on campus or sometimes telecommuting from home. I am fortunate that my R2 server has a couple of video cards and supports up to 4 monitors – although for now I just have 3. Now when I am at my desk I can remote desktop to my laptop – and use all three monitors. Very cool! Or if I am in someone else’s office and can borrow an external monitor I can bring two screens from my desk machines – complete with excellent graphics and sound!
*** Update *** The top three updates of my earlier posting are now live. The Office Servers still is not live, but you can get the MOSS update - KB 968859 - so the document is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968859 and the download at http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=968859. The WSS KB I refer to is the global one - Christophe references the non-global KB 968857 - in case you wonder why you see differences.
Christophe pointed out to me that for readers of my blog via RSS all of the URLs in my recent Project Server 2007 April Cumulative Update posting appear as hyperlinks, thus defeating my aim of showing which are live and which are not.
As of now (Saturday 2nd May 2009) only the Project Client KB article, and the Project Client, Project Server and WSS downloads are active. From the table in my blog this is the top KB link, and the top three download links.
Sorry for any confusion. I’ll update the original posting when the other links are live, and also updater any of the links if the live versions are not as posted.
With the recently released Project 2007 and Project Server 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) along with the Project 2007 and Project Server 2007 April Cumulative update hopefully we have seen the last of the false “check-in pending” issues. It is obviously still possible that the project may really be not checked in – but the false message should be a thing of the past. And I am absolutely positive that we you will tell me if I am wrong! And there could still be a scenario we haven’t heard about that we need to fix – so do let us know.
As with all cache related problems you may still see an issue if your cache is already “bad”, so best to make sure all your projects are really checked in on the server, and delete your cache (from the OS, not just the menu item in Pro) to ensure all is good when you load these new updates.
*** 2nd Update *** The Office Server download is now live KB968851 - just the article to come...

The April Cumulative Updates (CUs) for Project and Project Server are now available, but there has been a slight delay with the overall Office Server one – which will include all the Office Server components including Project Server. So if you just have Project Server and no MOSS you can go ahead and download and install now. If you have MOSS you may prefer to wait a few days and do all your Office Server updates in one go.
Also the KB articles for Project Server, Office Server and WSS are not yet live. So the table has hyperlinks that work – and text URLs where they are not yet active, but will be coming shortly. I will update when I see they are live.
So here are the links:
