Project Server 2007: April Cumulative Update

*** 2nd Update *** The Office Server download is now live KB968851 - just the article to come...

*** Update *** The top three updates are now live.  The Office Servers still is not live, but you can get the MOSS update - KB 968859 - so the document is at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968859 and the download at http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=968859. The WSS KB I refer to is the global one - Christophe references the non-global KB 968857 - in case you wonder why you see differences.

The April Cumulative Updates (CUs) for Project and Project Server are now available, but there has been a slight delay with the overall Office Server one – which will include all the Office Server components including Project Server.  So if you just have Project Server and no MOSS you can go ahead and download and install now.  If you have MOSS you may prefer to wait a few days and do all your Office Server updates in one go.

Also the KB articles for Project Server, Office Server and WSS are not yet live.  So the table has hyperlinks that work – and text URLs where they are not yet active, but will be coming shortly.  I will update when I see they are live.

So here are the links:

  • Check spelling in KB article for Project - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969409

In Porject Web Access (PWA), you check in a project. Then, you open this project in Project 2007. However, this project displays a status of "Check-in pending."

  • Thanks for reporting this - I will get it updated.

  • Hi Brian,

Why are several links in the above article still not live ? Is April CU not released yet ? I was told in one of the webcasts that it will be available on the 30th of April.

    thanks for the info,

    Laxmi.

  • Hi Laxmi,

If you are reading the blog the Live URLs, including the downloads are the ones that actually are hyperlinked.  This includes the downloads for the April CU for the client, server and WSS - but not yet the Office Servers combined package.  The article describing the April CU is only available for the client.  If you watched the webcast and you are happy you know what is in the CU then you can request the hotfix for download and install.  It is released - just the KB document is slow to be published.

    Best regards,

    Brian.

  • Just checked the links and they are all now live – so updated my list .  One clarification on a

  • Thanks a ton Brian.

I was banging my head to get this issue (Pending Check In) solved. I had updated my installation to every possible update/sp and tried every recommendation from waiting for some time after closing to start/stop the queue service etc. I had installed the SP2 with a lot of hope but that too failed to resolve this. At last the two hotfixes finally resolved this nagging issue.

  • Does SP2 for project professional 2007 includes April 2009 cumulative updates?

  • Hi Rajarshi and Brian,

You mentined that SP2 etc did not solve checkin pending issue and you had to install two hotfix packages. Please let me know kb numbers for these hotfix. Thanks.

  • Hi Rohit,

SP2 does not include the April CU.  Rajarshi doesn't specifically mention the hotfixes, but never a bad idea to be up to date with latest CU (August).

    Best regads,

    Brian.

  • Brian,

Do I need SP2 to apply April CU?

    Thanks.
