February Cumulative Update (CU) for Office Servers 2007 Now Available!

  • Comments 11

*** Update *** see http://blogs.msdn.com/brismith/archive/2010/03/09/office-servers-february-cu-and-the-project-server-database-versions-table.aspx for information regarding the db versions table - no db updates in this project Server CU, so no new number in the versions table.  If you hadn't already loaded the Dec CU then the version will change to December's.

Full details, see the Admin blog at http://blogs.technet.com/projectadministration/archive/2010/02/26/february-2010-cumulative-update-cu-for-project-server-2007-office-sharepoint-server-2007-wss-and-project-2007-now-available.aspx

There were also a few fixes that just missed incorporation in the CU, but are also available – from the Admin blog:

Note:  There has been a follow-up CU build that was released just after the February CU.  This CU contains three fixes that are not included in the February CU.  Please check http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980854 to see if these are fixes you need.  This CU also contains all of the fixes in the February CU so you will not need to install the February CU if you install this fix unless you are a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) user.  Customers running MOSS will want to install the server rollup fixes and then the post-February CU.  This CU will not be downloadable from the KB so you will need to open a Support Case in order to obtain it.  Customers with existing cases open for the February CU do not need to open another case.

As always, there can be delays in the KB’s and if you need the downloads the ‘secret’ is to substitute the desired KB number into the following URL - http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=XXXXXX&kbln=en-us.

Enjoy!

  • Hi Brian,

    thanks for your p

ost. I really like your (and Christophe’s) regular summary of CUs. I always use it immediately to do some testing before releasing for our customers.

I am not sure if this is a good place to ask my question?

I am sorry to say that I have some troubles this time when performing my tests in my test environment (SP2+CU Dec). I have now tried several times, with individual packages and server packages (deleting undo disk in between).

Installation doesn’t produce anything special in ULS and eventlog, configuration wizard runs without issues, updates are listed under programs in control panel. So from that point of view everything should be fine. But versions tables are not updated???

And my most favorite change for ‘Close Tasks to Update’ of this CU doesn’t work. I have even created a new instance to make sure that I test with default security settings for project managers. So it seems that CU isn’t installed correctly.

Are there any additional requirements regarding OS or SQL compared to CU December? Did I miss any announcement?

    Best regards

    Barbara

  • There is no delete option for my comment...

Sorry, my question was overhasty!! I have just read (thanks to the new German blog), that SQL SP2 is not longer supported. I was not aware of that. I will give it another try tomorrow after installing SQL SP3.

    Best regards

    Barbara

  • Hi Barbara,

Glad you found the new German blog useful.  Let me know how it goes.

    Brian.

  • Hi Brian,

one more blog for my morning lecture ;-).

SP3 wasn't the issue, still the same: no new version in version tables and no errors. If you have any idea what I could have missed ...?

    Thanks

    Barbara

  • Thanks for your new post of March 9th!

    Barbara

  • Can you provide a short summary of what is addressed in the Post February CU Hotfix?  the KB article is still "unpublished" from your link above.

    cheers,

    David.

  • Hi David, just seeing how this is coming along-if it isn't here soon I will post some details.

    Best regards,

    Brian

  • Hi Brian,

Can you tell me if CU Feb 2010 replaces CU Dec 2009 for Office Project 2007. I do not know if I have to install on client machines CU Dec + Feb or Feb 2010 is enough.

    Thanks

    Jean

  • Hi Jean,

With Cumulative Updates they really are cumulative so you only need to install the latest (So Feb CU includes everything and more than was in Dec CU). The only slight exception is that some localization changes made in Service Packs are not included in subsequent CU's (although other changes are) - so good practice is to load the latests SP then the latest CU.

    Best regards,

    Brian

  • Hi Brian,

We implemented Project Server on WSS 3.0 SP1 and Office Server 2007 SP1.  So I am attempting my first upgrade.  Thanks to your blog I have all the SP2 and February 2010 update ready to go, but then I ran into Infrastructure updates for everything that I am not sure are in SP2. Would you have any information to share about that?

    Thanks,

    Lee Ann

  • Hi Brian,

Nevermind about my last post, I found the answer was yes in posting you made about the Infrastructure Updates.

    Thanks,

    Lee Ann
