We now have 1,042,659 files in the dogfood system. Brian Harry sent out a dogfood statistics update in email today, prior to Jeff's check-in. But that's going to take more than v1. The issue is mostly one of scale, both the number of files and the number of users. V1 supports a large team (500+ with the right hardware), but there will be other challenges in getting to 5000 users, for example. V2 will address a lot of the scale issues necessary to get there.

I'm not sure how many millions of files there are, because they are on different servers. It's a lot, though.

We're going to continue expanding the number of users on our dogfood system, as well as load testing the web server (see Brian Harry's blog for more info on that).

re: 1,000,000 files in the dogfood system

I'm curious: Is the eventual plan to move *all* development within MS to use Team System?

If so, do you have any sense of how far from that goal you are at this point? (An equivalent question, I guess, is: exactly how many millions of files *are* there in active projects at MS? :) )

If not, what are the exceptions and why are their needs not met by Team System?
