SQL Server Management Studio Standard Reports –Active Full Text Catalogs: [DatabaseName]

I'm continuing my series on the Standard Reports in SQL Server Management Studio, and today we’re in the database reports. You can find these reports by starting SQL Server Management Studio and right-clicking a database name. From the menu that appears, click the Standard Reports, and then select the title at the top of this post.

We’re finally in the last of the database level reports. If you have Full-Text Indexes on your database, you know that monitoring the rebuild process is important. If you’re new to Full-Text Indexes you can read more about it here. To monitor Full-Text Indexes, you normally use a lot of stored procedures and functions. This report is indispensable to that process, since it runs those commands for you and tracks them historically.

The first section of this report shows the Active Full-Text Index Catalogs :

Column	Description
Full-Text Catalog Name	Name of the catalog. Is unique within the database.
Row Count ( thousand )	Estimated number of rows (in thousands) in all full-text indexes in this full-text catalog.
Full-Text Catalog Status	Current state of the full-text catalog. One of the following: 0 = Initializing 1 = Ready 2 = Paused 3 = Temporary error 4 = Remount needed 5 = Shutdown 6 = Quiesced for backup 7 = Backup is done through catalog 8 = Catalog is corrupt
# Full-Text Indexes	Number of indexes in this catalog
Table Name	The SQL Server table referenced in this catalog
# Regular Range
Crawl Type	Full-text crawl type. The value can be Full, Incremental, Manual, Paused, or Auto.
Clustered	Indicates whether the population involves a scan on the clustered index.
Crawl Status	Number of ranges for which processing is complete.
Completion Type	Status of this Population. Note: some of the states are transient. One of the following: 0 = New population 1 = Resume on database startup 2 = Temporary error 3 = Starting 4 = Resuming after temporary error 5 = Processing normally 6 = Stopping 7 = Has stopped processing 8 = Encountered row-level errors that will be retried 9 = Starting retry phase 10 = Processing retries
Notification Crawl Type	Notification method – Automatic or Manual
Start Time	The time the last operation started
Range Address	Address of memory buffers allocated for activity related to this range and subrange of a full-text index population.
Type	Type of memory access
Session ID	System-assigned ID of the transaction
# Documents Successfully Crawled	How many documents were successfully re-populated
# Errors	Number of errors in the repopulation
