Customer Meeting on Accessibility

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting with a DBA who was visiting us from Australia. He is an amazing fellow. He originally set out to be a doctor, but found that he was losing his sight. He switched to studying law, but found that he enjoyed technology more. He became certified in Cisco, got his MCSE, and then became the first blind person to be certified as a developer from Microsoft. He’s now a DBA, and I took the opportunity to chat with him about his background and how he uses our tools every day. It’s amazing to me to learn about all the ways people are using our technology around the world. What could be better than helping someone earn a living and contribute to their success?

  • I'd be curious to hear some of the details of that conversation.  Perhaps in one of your podcasts?  That is awesome.

I always worry that I'd have to find a new line of work should my eyes go from too many years of monitor stress.  I've got 30 years or so to go in my career and my eyes already feel strained much of the time.

  • I might have to do that at some point. Perhaps I'll get him to record something for us. Thanks for the suggestion!
