Wow - even with the split format of TechEd this year there are a TON of people here! And they are very focused. I've made it a point to meet as many people as I can in the booth, at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and even in the hallways of my hotel.

Apart from the "free consulting" I've been doing from the booth, here's what I'm hearing as the big issues that DBA's are facing:

  •  I'm not only a DBA. I have to manage all kinds of systems. (lots of these)
  • We're swamped with SharePoint! Our company/org loves this thing. What do I do to manage it?
  • I want to virtualize SQL Server. Tell me how or why not.

PowerShell will help with the first question. You can manage SQL Server, Exchange, Windows and more.

Wow - big topic - more on this one later.

Test? Sure. Dev? Sure. Production? Well....we'll talk more about that.

I'm exhausted - been working since 7:30 this morning and it's 10:00. Time for a little shuteye before my panel briefing at 9:00 in the morning. After that I'm back in the booth. Many of you have dropped by to say hello - I'm glad to meet each one of you!
