Today's quote is from Ovid, a Roman poet: "Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor"
(I see and approve the better course, yet choose the worse.)
Unfortunately all too true for me far too often.
Ovid was Roman, not Greek... this is probably the reason why the quote is in Latin and not in Greek :-)
BTW, the quote is incorrect: the word "melora" does not exist in Latin and it has to be replaced by the word "meliora"...
Cheers,
Francesco
by the way, the quote is incorrect too: the word "melora" does not exist in Latin and it has to be replaced by the word "meliora"...
And you are so correct - fixed!
Sounds like my corporate life right now! How you doing Buck?
I'm doing great, Jay! Other than mixing my Greeks and Romans :)
Reading that quote brought me instantly to Romans 7:15 in my mind. This type of quote is far too often true for far too many of us (including self, here). Thanks for making us think, Buck.
Great quote, Buck and unfortunately I'd have to say it is all too often true of me as well. Also reminds me of a passage in the Bible (Romans 7:15 NLT) where Paul says: "I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate."

Thanks for the reminder, guys! (re Romans 7:15 )
