What would the 12 steps look like for a recovering blogaholic?
(with apologies to BillW).
The Twelve Steps of Blogaholics Anonymous
01
We admitted we were powerless over blogging - that our lives had become unmanageable.
02
Came to believe that only pulling the plug on our Wireless Access Point could restore us to sanity.
03
Made a decision to turn our blog and our lives over to the care of God as we understood him... but BillG didn't comment on our post.
04
Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of our blog and realized that most of it had been covered by /. first.
05
Admitted to our manager, to ourselves, and to another blogger the exact value of our blog... and discovered most people's spare bandwidth is flat out coping with Scoble's daily bursts anyway.
06
Were entirely ready to have Scoble give our blog new purpose when he had THE LONG WEEK OFF... but then he came back, then decided to obey his real boss and only post six posts per evening... and then reneged on that idea as well.
07
Humbly asked Watermasysk to remove comments from .TEXT so we wouldn't feel compelled to respond personally to each one.
08
Made a list of persons we had ignored whilst writing our blog, and became willing to make amends to them all... and NOT by including them in our OPML.
09
Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would involve revealing whether or not they worked in the IE team.
10
Continued to take personal inventory of our blog and when we posted something not directly related to .NET, promptly admitted it and prepared for comment flames.
11
Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our blog as we understood It, praying only for knowledge of It's will for us and to post that on a daily basis.
12
Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to blogaholics, and to blog wisely in all our affairs.
