HTML and Silverlight are Friends with Benefits

HTML and Silverlight are Friends with Benefits

  • Comments 1

For those of you who are still wondering about where Silverlight stands in the face of Microsoft's increasing support for HTML5, I point you to this video which I recorded earlier this year: HTML5 and RIAs: Friends with Benefits. Bow-chicka-wah-wah!!!

This article also appears in Global Nerdy.

  • So how about a roadmap of what is to come in Silverlight?  You know, something showing what features are planned for the future.

Flash is on the new Blackberrys, Droids and iOS (through a conversion program).  Silverlight is on none of these, with no plans to bring them to these because of HTML5.  As a developer I need to hit the most targets with the least amount of effort.  When an article is written up saying that Silverlight development is slowing, and that cross platform is no longer a priority then Silverlight development becomes a risk.
