Windows Azure Sets Up Camp in Montreal

AzureCampLast week, I mentioned that Windows Azure is setting up camp online and in cities near you. With TechDays coming to Montreal next week, Windows Azure Camp is coming along with it! Join me, Jonathan Rozenblit, as well as TechDays speakers and Windows Azure experts Tyler Doerksen (@tyler_gd) and Steve Syfuhs (@stevesyfuhs) on November 29 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm for Windows Azure Camp.

We’ll be covering:

  • The foundations of the Cloud
  • What each of the components of the Windows Azure platform do
  • How you can leverage your existing knowledge of .NET, Java, PHP, Ruby, or Python to work with Windows Azure
  • What tools and toolkits are available to you to make developing for the Cloud easy
  • When and how you can use Windows Azure to build your next application

The first half of the evening will focus on instruction and demos, then after a short break, you’ll leverage the knowledge that you just learned to build, test, and deploy an application to Windows Azure.

AzureCamp is the perfect opportunity to learn from experts in a low-key, interactive way and then get hands-on time to apply what you’ve learned. Don’t forget to bring your notebook computers! You’ll need them to do the hands-on activities.

You’ll also want to make sure that:

  • You have a Windows Azure account or you’ve created a Windows Azure account by signing up for the 90 Day FREE trial or activating your MSDN Windows Azure benefits.
  • You have all of the tools and the correct versions installed, or download and install them from here. You’ll need Visual Studio 2010 Express, Professional, or Ultimate; Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio 2010 1.5 (or higher); Windows Azure SDK 1.5 (or higher); SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Studio Express (or full) with SP1. If you’re installing using the link above, the installer will install everything that you need. You don’t have to download and install each of the above manually.

Windows Azure Camp will be presented in English. I used to speak fluent French but it’s been years and I want to make sure that you understand what I’m saying, so it’s best we stick to English!

Can’t attend on November 29? No problem. You can log on and tune into Windows Azure Camp Online, the week of December 12-16.  If you prefer the in-person learning experience, check the Windows Azure Camp page for dates and locations of Windows Azure Camps happening across the country. We’ll be adding new dates over the next few weeks.

I’m looking forward to seeing you in Montreal!
