The 2008 IMPACT Awards ceremony takes place today in Toronto. Since 2003, the annual IMPACT Awards has recognized the success of technology partners in the channel community and with their customers.

There are a total of 32 categories honouring the top contributors in Canada. Each category has 3 finalists, with the winner for each being announced later this evening.

I am pleased to share that there are more than 30 finalists representing partners in the SBSC community this year! “This shows the amazing level of passion and engagement with Microsoft that our SBSC partners have,” said Carol Terentiak, Microsoft Partner Program Manager.

I want to highlight and congratulate the 3 finalists for the Small Business Specialist of the Year award:

  • ITNORTH CA NETWORK AND CONSULTING SERVICE - Reselling and supporting, Microsoft Small Business Server, Microsoft Exchange, ISA and SQL server to small businesses in all industries and municipalitie
  • IT MATTERS INC - Welton Energy Corporation Beyond SBS
  • ProServeIT Corporation - Small Business in a Box using Microsoft Small Business Server

The Small Business Specialist award honors a member of the Small Business Specialist Community who demonstrates innovation for deploying a small business Microsoft-based solution (fewer than 50 employees or fewer than 25 PCs) with a tangible impact on the customer’s business.

I also want to give a special mention to a finalist for the Learning Solution of the Year award for their work with the SBSC exam crams last year:

  • Nexient Learning Inc - The Small Business Specialist Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Exam Certification Training Solution

The Learning Solutions Partner of the Year award recognizes a technology partner’s commitment and ability to deliver high-quality learning services to meet customer needs. It also validates the effect of skills assessment, technical training, student mentoring, and Microsoft Certified Professional exam preparation on customer satisfaction, and the application of Microsoft technology to help solve business problems. Nominate your organization for this award if it is a Certified Partner for Learning Solutions that provides training services based on Microsoft-based technologies or has been innovative in its approach to training—and used sales and marketing resources to help support its innovative training approach.
