This is a really important note for all Microsoft Small Business Specialists to review. We’ve now released globally the new exam requirements for the SBSC designation, including Canada of course.

What’s new?

Moving forward, all new SBSC partners must employ or contract at least one person by location who has passed 1 of the following 5 eligible technical exams:

What if I have a previous exam?

If you’ve passed either the 70-282 TS: Designing, Deploying, and Managing a Network Solution for Small- and Medium-Sized Business (most likely) or 74-134 TS: Preinstalling Microsoft Products and Technologies for your designation, your exam credentials must be updated by October 31, 2010.

You will need to update this to retain your SBSC designation and MCP credential

Why the change?

As a SBSC, you are positioned to our mutual SMB customers as best suited for their technology needs. You also receive exclusive opportunities from Microsoft for holding the designation, as our best aligned SMB-focused partners.

We need to work together to continue delivering on this promise. That means continuing to develop ourselves as new technologies become available – particularly SBS 2008 and EBS 2008.

Remember that the SBSC designation is valid for your company as long as your individual requirement is. This change is effective now through to October 2010.

Don’t worry though, we’ll be here to help with the transition. More on that later. For now, please read additional FAQs on the Microsoft Partner Portal.
