I just received a piece of email from MVP for Content Manager Server Angus Logan and that is NOT what he said -but rather he said:
“I would have liked to have done a presentation maybe something MCMS related but the ‘suggest session’ form said that you need to be an experienced presenter…”
In all honesty TechEd Australia is a lofty bar when it comes to new presenters. Last year we had 5 of the top 10 presenters from the US come down (Kevin Collins, Brian A. Randell, Jesper Johansson, Steve Riley and Brian Smith). Even our least experienced presenters such as Troy Magennis hosts his company’s’ weekly developer brown bags, presented at the Microsoft Australia Company meeting (with 500+ people) and does numerous user group meetings. Out of a possible score of 9 at last years TechEd, the LOWEST score at was a 6.71 With an average 7.4!
But if you are an Australian and TechEd Australia is a goal of yours you should contact me so we can introduce you to the local user group and get you started on this goal. Most of our local presenters started out at user groups with local legend Adam Cogan having presented to over 160 user groups (fairly conservative estimate). In Angus’s case, since emailing me we have scheduled him to present at the Queensland MSDN User group http://www.qmsdnug.org/ ,attend a Microsoft sponsored presentation skills workshop and are looking the various Microsoft SIGs for him to cut his teeth at….So will he be presenting at Teched? Stay tuned! But rumour has it there is Microsoft CMS Program Manager looking for a straight man to do Content Manager Demos…
