About Data Dude

I am the Group Engineering Manager for the Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals product as known as the “Data Dude”. After 3 years of Ashton-Tate, I joined Microsoft in 1991; prior to this current position I was a member of the SQL Server development team where I held various positions varying from development to management. I worked on SQL Server 7.0, 2000 and 2005; some SQL Server artifacts I worked on are: BULK INSERT, SQL-DMO, SQL Query Analyzer, SQL Profiler, DTS and SMO. After SQL 2000 I needed some time away from SQL Server so I decided to join the Indigo team where I designed the new System.Transactions API which ships as part of the .NET v2.0 frameworks. Homesick I returned to SQL in September of 2003 where I joined the SQL Server Customer Advisory Team; a small team that is focused on helping customers design and implement the largest SQL Server implementations in the world, boy that was fun! But July of 2005 I decided that I needed I new challenge, a new team, a new adventure, and a team that was going to solve real SQL Server problems, which is why I joined the “Data Dude” team. We started with 4 people, one year later we have grown to almost 42 people and are ready to rock the world.

When I am not working, I am spending time with my wife and three lovely daughters; I love to cook and make music. Besides that I am trying to serve the SQL Server community by writing tools and articles which are published on http://SQLDev.Net
