WOW! I am really excited about all the continued interest in the upcoming Silverlight DevCamp. I wanted to post something here based on all the questions I've been asked over the past 2 days about the event - specifically the "registration is full - can I still come?" question.
The simple answer is, "that's entirely up to you". :-)
So here's the deal...
Our meeting facility (Improving Enterprises) can hold about 75-85 people - we had 100 people register and more people asking to come every day. Since these "free" events always have some percentage of no-shows, I've been telling anyone and everyone interested in attending to come on down! Chances are, we'll be able to figure out how to accommodate everyone, but we will have only so much drink, food and prizes for everyone if more than 100 attend. If you're concerned at all, please give me a call (214-285-5616) before you head down and I'll let you know what it looks like at the venue. I will NOT turn anyone away that wants to participate in the Silverlight DevCamp, but you might have to get a little creative about where you sit to write your code...
To make things easy on everyone, I have 3 requests:
It will be a madhouse if everyone trying to do their installations during the camp. If you must use a VPC, that's cool - but be prepared. It's 20 GB in size, and prefers at least 512MB of RAM, if not more (I recommend at least 1 GB). We will also have the computers, but you'll almost certainly have to work with a partner or team if you use one of them.
Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions.
Thanks for your interest in Silverlight DevCamp, and I look forward to seeing you there!
