A few months ago, I gave into the pressue to get into the high definition DVD market and purchased a Microsoft HD DVD player for my Xbox 360. Part of what tipped me over the edge was a promotion stating that everyone purchasing the player would get a free copy of King Kong in the box, and 5 more movies "of your choice" via the mail. OK, I said, let's go for it. I purchased the kit and installed in in about 3 minutes - the wireless adapter moves over to the DVD player, the DVD player takes its place, plug in the power to the DVD player, and turn it on. PRESTO - instant video.
King Kong was great, but I was ready for my free movies so I filled out the form and sent it in, expecting the usual 6-8 weeks for shipment. About 4 weeks later I get something in the mail stating the movies I had chosen were on back order (lucky me). So - 4 weeks later than that, just shy of the 8 week maximum, I received my 5 free movies:
I didn't have an unlimited number of choices - there were actually a couple of "strata" of selections, and you got to pick some from a few categories, and one from a few. In the end, the choices were pretty limited, but free (almost always) = good. so no complaints from me.
