When I first started as a Developer Evangelist almost 2 years ago (WOW – time flies), the very first thing I was asked to do was connect with the folks in SCD that were running the local DevCares events and make sure that they had the support they needed, as well as look to find some additional cities to spread DevCares to.  Although strong through FY07 and into FY08, the program started to fall off in FY08 due to various issues related to content and speaker training opportunities.  It was unfortunate, because the DevCares program was really good at reaching out to folks in a more intimate setting than an MSDN event, but not as deep technical as a local User Group meeting.

I’m happy to say that one of our former DevCares partners, TekFokus, has brought DevCares back to Dallas!  On January 30, 2009, TekFocus will host a new DevCares event at their offices in the Dallas InfoMart (1950 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 3050 in Dallas).  The event starts at 8:30 in the morning, and will feature Ken Byrd talking about Silverlight 2:

Microsoft® Silverlight™ Streaming by Windows Live™, .NET 3.5, Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.0, Silverlight, Expression Studio, Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, Windows CardSpace, Visual Studio 2005, .NET Framework, Visual Studio Team System, Visual Studio Professional Edition, Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Office System, Visual Studio Standard Edition, Visual Studio Express Editions

Seating is limited, so make sure you head over to https://www.clicktoattend.com/invitation.aspx?code=134502 and register today before it fills up.  There is no cost to attend, so the price point fits everyone’s budget!

They don’t have a web site up yet, so here’s the full schedule of dates for all of 2009 so you can block the time off on your calendar:

As you can see, I’ll be speaking next month on ASP.NET MVC, so if there’s anything specific you’d like to see me cover, post some comments to this message and I’ll start collecting ideas.  If you’re friends don’t subscribe to this blog, make sure to point them at it so they too can add their ideas and requests for what to cover.
