Productive Method for Downloading 2010 Information Worker Demonstration and Evaluation VM

Thanks to Brian Keller’s post on a similar topic (download the Project Server/Team Foundation Server) integration demo VM, here is a similar approach to more efficiently download the recently released  2010 Information Worker Demonstration and Evaluation Virtual Machine (RTM) (see this fore more info: Microsoft Project Server 2010 RTM Demo Virtual Machine is Ready for Download)

    • Download and install Free Download Manager. This utility provides:

      • Auto-resume support for interrupted downloads.
      • Multiple simultaneous download streams for (usually) a much faster download experience.
      • As the name implies, it's completely free.
    • Select the appropriate URL’s depending on your preferred virtualization platform and copy (CTRL+C) them to your clipboard.

###Select This Section and Copy It (CTRL+C) - Do Not Include This Line###

###End - Do Not Include This Row In Your Selection###

    • Launch the user interface for Free Download Manager (either from the Start Menu or via the system tray icon if FDM is already running).
    • Click File -> Import -> Import List of URLs from Clipboard.
    • When prompted for a download group, accept the default and click OK.
    • You are now free to minimize Free Download Manager while the files download. By default, they will be saved to c:\downloads.

And voila in about 1 hour all files are downloaded and ready to be unzipped!

Project Server and Team Foundation Server Integration Early Adoption Program

Following this announcement: Microsoft Project Server and Team Foundation Server 2010 CTP Virtual Machine and thanks to Brian Keller I am happy to announce the following Early Adoption Program to enable you to evaluate the out of the box integration of Project Server and Team Foundation Server (fill in nomination form below), and don’t forget to attend the webcast on this same topic this coming Friday: Project Server and Team Foundation Server 2010 Integration Technical Preview webcast on August 20th, 2010

    What is Metro?

Metro is an early adoption program targeted at partners and customers and provides a structured approach for early technology adoption. It is project-based, and its purpose is to help reduce the risk and accelerate the time-to-market for applications.

Starting today, if you are interested in using Team Foundation Server 2010 with Project Server you can self-nominate into Metro for this program.

Once in Metro, participants gain access to:

    • Invitations to Exclusive Instructor Led Training Workshops delivered  regionally as available
    • Access to Metro on Connect site for special offers, trainings, briefings - often before detail is publically available
    • Exclusive Developer (Deep-Dive) Labs where partners and customers can bring in their app and work on it with Subject Matter Experts
    • Metro-Only recurring online sessions with subject matter experts under NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement)

Metro is open to approved nominations for company projects which are under NDA and committed to using the Team Foundation Server 2010 and Project Server 2010 Integration within RTM +180 days.

How can I self-nominate for Metro?

You may submit project nominations here (please allow until the end of August for nominations to be approved)

Please note that at this time we have not announced a release schedule for the final version of this integration software.
