Below are the release notes from today's deployment.
1. With today’s deployment we’ve made some significant changes to the source code experience.
We believe that this will help make source code more discoverable and emphasizes our focus on developer collaboration.
The popups in the action bar will help you perform the tasks you need to do when contributing to projects, as well as managing your own projects. Take a look at how easy it is to find the clone/connection URL now!
2. The second exciting thing we turned on this week is the ability to enable Windows Azure Web Sites to build and deploy your project source code (for Git source code projects). You can read more about how to do this in Mark's post here.
3. We also made some improvements in other areas this week:
We'd love to have your feedback on the new changes to the source code tab. Please let us know what you think on our suggestions page, send us a message on Twitter @codeplex, or you can reach Mark Groves directly @mgroves84
I like this change a lot. Clicking the Source Code tab should show source code immediately, not more clicking!
ridiculous, to go to some older change set now i have to click/click/click, this site is going in the wrong direction, so sad, crappy design, crappy functions, i don't care anymore, need to switch to something more consistent, where things make sense..
I agree with radioman, source code shouldn't change. Source code is for developers and not dummies - developers know what change sets mean and it is essential to select one to view the code.
Also for me and my team a better UX is to see how a project develops by viewing the history of changes.
And think about all the posts where we direct users "go to Source Code tab and click change set n" - this is no longer true. Where is the consistency CodePlex had it before?
Other two improvements are fine.
Please revert the SourceCode tab to the history view by default.
Or, at least, make it optional (i.e., a flag in a user's profile).
