The Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 code name “R2” May 2010 Community Technology Preview (CTP) is now available on the Download Center.

We invite you to install this pre-release of the next version of Commerce Server 2009 code name “R2” into a non-production environment to learn how Commerce Server 2009 “R2” provides an improved business management experience, enhanced cross-channel enablement with multi-tier development and deployment support, and a more streamlined deployment experience.  Note: Given the pre-release nature of this release, not all functionality is currently available. The release is for evaluation purposes only and is not intended to be used in a production environment.  The May CTP will stop functioning on December 31, 2012.

The May 2010 CTP includes multiple Commerce Server Site support which allows multiple Commerce Server sites to be hosted within a single application or web application.  With greatly increased capacity for multi site deployments, enterprise customers will  realize significant savings not only on hardware but on the associated resource consumption when running many sites.  Commerce Server 2009 "R2" reduces the management overhead as well as the carbon footprint streamlining data centers, clearing the clutter, simplifying and allowing our customers to focus on serving their customers’ needs rather than worrying about increasingly complex and costly datacenters or hosting bills.  For a complete list of new or changed features, issues and/or functionality in the May 2010 CTP, please refer to the readme file.

Please note, the May 2010 CTP is the last release including a Microsoft SharePoint 2007 based solution storefront and component web parts.
