Monday, Novell released code that provides support for Ecma Open XML in their OpenOffice.org implementation. The add-in provides the capability for loading and saving of Open XML documents by the popular productivity suite in both the Windows and Linux versions. This release represents one of the first outputs of the technical collaboration agreement between Microsoft and Novell. Furthermore, it demonstrates the adoptability of the format in non-MS software packages (and platforms).
