Right out of the box Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 provides a wealth of phone attributes to use in tuning the application to the user's environment. There hasn't been a single CRM implementation I have been involved with where one of the first things users latched onto was modifying or removing phone fields displayed on an entity form. On each of these occasions I have often said to myself - After this project I am going to put together a reference document that I can use for the next project. Well the time has come and it has been done.
There are 15 CRM Entities that have 'phone' attributes - this includes fields labeled as Telephone, Fax, Pager, or Mobile Phone. All together there are 102 phone attributes in the CRM system that are exposed to the System Customizer. These 15 entities and their corresponding attributes are available in the Customization section in the Settings Area. But this isn't all of them. After a little digging I discovered that there are 5 more entities with a total of 14 phone attributes that can be seen when browsing to the metadata view (http://servername:5555/organization_name/sdk/list.aspx) that don't show up in the Customization section.
There are two key items to consider when using the phone fields - length and mappings. Fortunately, the former is easy to deal with because except for two instances all the phone fields are the same length - 50 characters. Only two fields - Pager in the Lead Entity and Phone Number in the Phone Call entity are not 50 characters - they are 20 and 25 characters long respectively.
The second item - mappings - and how easy it is to get in trouble here with phone fields are going to covered in another blog posting.
Two tables follow, the first is a listing of all 20 entities and 116 phone attributes. The second one displays the Source-to-Target mappings for all phone attributes.

We actually have had to add phone attributes and a "More Phones" Entity.
Go Figure :)
Great that you put it together but what do you mean by saying that QuoteDetail is No Form Entity? As far as i remember QuoteDetail has form that you can customise and both phone fields are visible on this form out of box (at least in my culture version of CRM) also you can easily see how this form looks by adding new product to quote. Similar thing is for example with Customer Address.
Kind regards,
Jerzy D.
You are so right.
