Now that UR12 has shipped to onPremise customers we’re starting to get questions on which features were introduced as well as the differences between UR12 and “Polaris.”
Let’s cover the common features of UR12 and Polaris:
While UR12 has most of the same features there are some that differ with regard to CRM Online today, they are as follows:
As you can see, the features are largely the same and while Online has a few extra enhancements most can be accomplished in an onPremise environment with a few customizations. For more information look for updates to the Statement of Direction and future Release Preview Guides. The most recently release preview guide (December 2012) can be found here: http://bit.ly/WkgXoe. Also check out the UR12 podcast & blog entry from our very own PFE Greg Nichols for more details on all UR12 has to offer.
As always our PFE team is ready to assist with code samples and various other engagements as you update your CRM environments. One of Microsoft's biggest failures of this release (aside from the delays and chaotic release and subsequent re-release) was explaining succinctly and adequately what the main changes were *in advance* of the release and summarizing any differences between functionality between the two platforms (on premise/online). Customers shouldn't have to wait until *after* the release to find some of this information on a blog.
Alex: Thanks for reading, it appears this article has hit on a topic you’ve been looking for info on and I’m glad we were able to provide that. Regarding your feedback, our team will be sure to share it internally and we’ll let you know if there’s additional information or updates. Also, if you’re attending Convergence 2013 I think that’d be a great opportunity to share your constructive feedback directly with our R&D and Marketing teams. Thanks again for reading Alex and I hope you’re seeing value from us sharing our experiences as we work with customers & partners in the field.
I have to agree with all of the comments from Alex. This release was a major disappointment from a communication and quality standpoint. There have been some obvious internal changes that are causing major disruptions to the release cycles, quality, and communication from the internal teams to partners and customers.
The out of sync releases now cause even more confusion, e.g. what's in what version and when it's available, is much more difficult to keep track of and communicate to customers. Keeping the releases in sync was a much better and more simple approach. I certainly hope we will not continue to see more divergence from online vs. on premise releases. Keep it simple and straightforward, please.
Also looking forward to seeing improved communications and quality on the upcoming releases. It's imperative to continue the success we have seen in the market. It doesn't take much to turn customers away these days because there are so many alternatives out there.
Thanks for sharing information. Where is the OOB feataure available for bing maps? kindly let me know.
