The new 3D rendering engine for Virtual Earth 3D is something else. I was flying over Vienna last night... it's a town I've always wanted to visit, and now, more than ever. 70TB of new images. That's a lot of pictures. Technorati Tags: virtual earth ...

With as many community contributions to the MSDN library as half of the top contributors COMBINED , Thomas Lee has come to embody for us the reasons why we built this feature in the first place. Single-handedly, he's nearly created a 6th programming language...

First day of TechEd 2008 (IT Pro week) is done. Day 2 ahead. I'll be doing a TechTalk in the fishbowl in a couple hours. I'll post the URL for that next time. Overall, reaction to what we're doing is positive. Many more people seem to "get it" this year...

The social bookmarking preview got a lot of attention. So did the site redesign for MSDN and TechNet. But Dan Truax is starting today to explain why that's just the beginning. I'm betting that you won't hardly recognize these sites by the end of 2009...

UPDATE: Chris Kilbourn has posted another good case study on TechNet search. I'm hearing from the folks on the floor at TechEd that our 3.0 release of search is getting raves. I can't wait to show it off next week to IT folks. Today, co-worker Jeff...

An amusing video inspired by MSDN and TechNet's new focus on "kicking up the social volume" is over on YouTube (and Soapbox, embedded below). I think it tells the story of why community is critical for our sites in a just-annoying-enough-to...

Microspotting is a blog consisting of profiles of Microsofties. Why do I like it? It gives me hope that a weirdo like me still fits in here. And it paints a much more rounded picture of the Empire. Here's my fav, probably because it's by our uber-evangelist...

My biggest takeaway from interactions with lots of great people at TechEd was that not enough people know about what we're doing, which makes for great job security for an evangelist like me :) We have so much to do in helping you (the IT pro and developer...

I think we need to make a screensaver version of this. It's all the bookmarks that MSDN and TechNet visitors are saving using our new social bookmarking feature, floating by in a sideways-"Matrix-falling-bits-of-code" Silverlight thingy . Gratuitous?...
