Quoting...

"But this bunching of timer-based interrupts remains a serious concern, for instance, whenever Windows is running as a guest virtual machine under VMware or Hyper-V. (Please don’t get me started on that topic.) "

Actually, I would like to see you "started on that topic"... I'm banging my head on the wall for quite a while on this subject. Values read from "% Processor Time" and "System\Processor Queue Length" on windows systems under VMWare or Hyper-V is giving me headaches!!!

Was this enough to "get you started"? If not, any advice on we can I read something to "get me started"???

Thanks for your help. You're right. Perf Watson will detect the hang and fire about 2 seconds in to collect a stack; however, it waits for VS to come back so it can use the total time to weight the hang. If it never comes back, then it probably won't complete the cycle. I'll forward your note to the Perf Watson owner.

Perf Watson fires on every solution load (which is slow), but my IDE is now sitting at "Not Responding" with no cameo by Perf Watson.
