OneNote Mobile for iPhone - RE: "Login failed, error: 400" Error

First of all thank you very much for your interest in OneNote Mobile for the iPhone, there has been a tremendous response thus far.

We have received reports from customers who are hitting an error on initial login, with the following message: "Login failed, error: 400".

The team has been investigating the issue and believe we have identified the cause. We are working on an update. However the underlying cause is an intermittent issue, due to overwhelming interest in the app. The workaround is to keep trying to sign in, once you get past this error then OneNote will sync without any problem.

Thank you for your patience and interest in OneNote, we all apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Tried almost 15-20 time and finally I was able to login now syncing all my documents

  • Really, Microsoft?  Even getting past the "intermittent" login error, app still won't sync without error.   Get your act together.

  • This is not working. I'm trying past 1 hour to get in .. Always says Logon failed error: 400. Just another reason people running away from MS.

  • Please remove the online requirement from the app. A mobile productivity app that req online to run isn't very productive. We don't always have wifi or cellular signal everywhere we use the iPhone. Also, I don't fully believe the claim that apple req limiting to 4.2 seeing as I never had to update for any of the other new apps I bought until your app. Yours was the only one, including a couple other brand new apps from the very same day.

  • Thanks for the post. It was very helpful. After multiple tries I was able to sync. I'm very thankful for this app... been wishing it existed for at least a year now! Great job!

  • I'm using it on an iPod and it shows sync error (-1) how can I sync ?

  • If you're on 4.1 and want the app, and you're jailbroken you can add the following source in Cydia:  ihackstore.com/repo

From there you can download Firmware 4.2.1 fake, which will allow you to download most apps requiring 4.2.1 (I haven't found any that don't work...I downloaded OneNote just now :)

  • I was getting the error on my phone but as soon as i tried turning off wifi and signing in over 3g it worked with no problems.  If you are still having a problem I would try to turn off wifi and do it over the data network. If your using an ipod touch I cant really help you sorry.

  • I was unable to log in, getting this error repeatedly.  After a reboot of the iPhone it logged in without error.  Just a suggestion to those having troubles; it may work for you, as well.

  • Pathetic excuse, how can you say it's so popular that's the reason and also a update to fix the problem is coming. error 400 has a specific meaning and server busy is not it. Are these the same programmers that coded Vista?

  • Like many others I'm getting the 400 error on logon and found this site via Google.

Guess I'll stick with Evernote for now, which I've been using more recently because its syncing feature just works (and on many platforms).  Its a shame because I have such a large existing OneNote notebook.  If MS doesn't get on top of this soon I'll probably bite the bullet and migrate all the notes into Evernote (although it will be a pain).

  • Hi gang!  I was able to log in.  However, I can't sync.  Getting an error "Loading list of Notebooks failed. (500)"  Any work around for this yet?  Thanks!

  • If I could interject something;  I love MS products and I'm definitely a 'Softie... but please - it's the 21st century.  Get rid of numbered error messages!  They are completely out-of-date, and totally destroy the user experience.  Say something meaningful...!

  • Turn off 3G and turn on WIFI log in ok
