There's much misunderstanding about ActiveX, what it is and how it works. It gets blamed for unrelated security issues and generally gets a raw deal.

I was really surprised when I was refered to article on eWeek that doesn't spread myth and uncertainty around ActiveX. ActiveX is a legitimate extension mechanism for the browser with security constraints around safe for scripting and authentication of code. Anyone who writes an extension for any browser or for that matter anyone writing any software should understand security. I always recommend Writing Secure Code from Microsoft Press but there is plenty of good security guidance for developers out there online as well.

The sun's just come out here though and as it is Sunday I'm going to head out and enjoy it!
