After more than 5 years in Microsoft’s UK Education team and Higher Education it’s time for a change.  With complete honesty, I can say that the last 5 years have been the best of my career.  With fabulous customers, great partners and a real sense of achievement  it has been the perfect role for me.  However, the role is extremely complex and has changed significantly and I believe the time is now right for someone new to come in with fresh eyes and ideas.

So what’s next for me?  It’s great to feel real passion and dedication for customers and working with the public sector and Microsoft I have the perfect opportunity to do just that.  Along with education, health is another sector I care deeply about and I now plan to spend the next few years, at least, working in Microsoft’s Health Solutions group.  Focusing in the North UK and Ireland to help trusts deliver better care, making more efficient use of resources and effectively using the multiple data silos to help transform the UK’s health.  Particular challenges I would like to see addressed are health inequalities, risk prevention in hospitals, reduced readmissions and better use of data for research purposes.

At the moment, I’m not sure how I will use this blog.  I’ve a lot to learn about health and it will be a little while before I’m qualified to contribute much content.  Although, with new insight and my previous experiences I expect to bring some unique ideas to the sector.  In my worklife, I’ve always been a quick learner so I should be up and running in no time…

An exciting challenge lies ahead for everyone in the UK public sector for workers, citizens and suppliers.  I’d like to thank all my customers in UK Higher Education and wish everyone the best for the future.
