Today at PDC the general availability of Microsoft Office 2010 Beta was announced. You can download the beta from http://www.microsoft.com/2010 to get up and running. Be sure to read the Office 2010 Engineering blog announcing this for more details. For Office developers, you have a newly revamped Office Developer Center on MSDN that is your portal to download links, white papers, video how tos and much more. So now, get yourself setup for Office development. Install Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 and get ready for the soon-to-be-available hands on labs on Channel 9. If you need any tips on setting up VS 2010 Beta 2, see Brian Keller’s blog.

Some developers may want to install VS 2010 and the Office Beta on a separate VM. You can download a 180-day Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) free trial VHD for Hyper-V from here, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9040a4be-c3cf-44a5-9052-a70314452305&displaylang=en.
