I wanted to share an opportunity Microsoft has for students to get experience building Windows 8 apps and earn some cool prizes along the way. We are currently running a software development contest called the Windows 8 Student App Madness Challenge from today through April 11th, 2013.

The Challenge provides students with the tools and training they need to create Windows 8 applications and rewards students for getting them into the Windows Store during this time period.  No prior experience is required as we have content just for students and tools are free for them.  Apps can be written in C++, JavaScript, C#, or VB.NET, and we have special training for people coming from an iOS background.  Cross-platform Android/iOS apps written with Scirra Contruct2 and can also run on Windows 8. For any application they develop they will receive a $100 reward. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to win an all-expense paid trip if they submit the most apps during one of four rounds.  The full details can be found on the Facebook page here: http://aka.ms/Win8appmadness.
