Research Positions at MSR Cambridge
Do you have what it takes to join the lab that helped produce the AI vision algorithms for XBox Kinect, which has already sold more than 8 million units? A lab that leads the way for industry and research with open, modern programming languages such as F# and Haskell? That contributes top-rate papers to research conferences, and turns these ideas into reality through projects like Terminator? That invents and helps deliver core platform technologies such as AdPredictor, .NET and C# Generics and F#/C#/VB async programming (to name but a few that I'm familiar with....), including code included with Bing, SQL Server, Windows 7, Silverlight, Windows Phone 7, Visual Studio and more?
Above all, do you have a passion for both industry and research, and can you produce a virtuous feedback cycle between the two in your area of speciality?
I love working at Microsoft Research, and MSR Cambridge is a great place to work. If you can make a unique difference in research and industry, then come and think about joining us.
(The above is my take on what I'm looking for when I interview people at MSR. Here's the official information :-) )
We at MSR-Cambridge are seeking candidates from all areas of Computer Science, including theoretical foundations, systems, networking, programming languages, and machine learning. We are also interested in candidates doing research at the frontiers of Computer Science with other disciplines (such as finance, biology). We give higher priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work than to the candidate's sub-area of specialization.
The review of applications will begin on February 1, 2011, and candidates are strongly encouraged to submit applications by that date; however, applications will continue to be accepted at least until April 30, 2011.
