This past week information regarding the next release of SQL Server, codenamed Katmai, was made publically available.
Check out this
on Computer World. The article mentions something called Declarative Management Framework - a new way to manage SQL Server configuration by policy. For the past 15 months I've been spending the overwhelming majority of my time on this functionality. I truly believe that in 7-10 years we're going to look at the way data environments are managed and wonder how we survived without this technology. Unfortunately I can't share the intimate details of this feature. But I soon will. TechEd 2007, June 4 – 7 in Orlando will contain several sessions on Katmai; including one I'll be hosting on the new manageability features including declarative management. I hope to see you in Orlando.
