Announcing General Availability for Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011

The Microsoft Dynamics SL product marketing team passes along this exciting news regarding the latest release of Microsoft Dynamics SL.

We are thrilled to bring you the exciting news that as of April 1st 2011, Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 is ready for purchase! In addition, starting on Monday, April 4th 2011 it will be posted to PartnerSource for download. Jeff Wallis, Microsoft Dynamics Product Unit Manager, and his team have been hard at work so it’s very fitting that he is featured below to share his enthusiasm for the rich functionality delivered in this new release. We also are seeing great momentum as we head into the launch activities and in particular Partner Events on our launch map.

Keep driving hard and let’s make this a fantastic year for Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011!

A few thoughts from Jeff Wallis:

Every now and then a new software release feels more significant than others. Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 is one of those releases. The SL R&D and Product Management teams set out to break new ground by enhancing the development process to significantly improve the customer and partner experience, product value, and overall end user enthusiasm. This is the first release in which members of our customer and partner Advisory Board not only contributed to detailed feature requirements, but also participated in prototype reviews and spec reviews from Milestone 0 through Milestone 4. Thirteen Advisory Board committees applied their in-depth knowledge of use case scenarios, pain points and vertical requirements, and then influenced designs and implementation throughout the life-cycle. It amounts to a huge, uncompensated contribution on their part which will greatly benefit the entire Microsoft Dynamics SL Community. As a result of this unprecedented collaboration, Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 will launch with more customer and partner excitement and anticipation than any of us can remember.

Why the excitement over Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011? It delivers significant, tangible value for new and existing customers. From a whole new user experience using MBS common controls to a new, game-changing Quick Query solution, to document/image attachments at the record level, and a new web services framework based on WCF. From delivering everything a Project Manager needs to perform his/her work at the job site to a dramatically improved and time-saving multi-company experience, as well as key improvements in managing project inventory and Sales Orders. From a new integration with Microsoft Project Server 2010 to new tools that enable accounting personnel to quickly and confidently reverse or copy GL transactions. Every one of these features was prioritized and shaped by the Microsoft Dynamics SL Advisory Board and Microsoft Dynamics SL User Group. They feel like it’s their release.

We will officially launch Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 during the SL General Session at Convergence 2011 on Monday, April 11th 2011.

We are thrilled to bring you this new release!

Several Microsoft team members and partners are involved in the development process of Sure Step to create a consistent, scalable implementation methodology for Microsoft partners to use during Microsoft Dynamics implementations.

Having consistent processes in place is a huge plus for partners, especially if you are having to increase the workloads for your consulting resources given the economic conditions of the last couple of years.

Microsoft Dynamics Partner Community 2011 Milestones and Achievements

Yesterday, the Microsoft Fargo Campus celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Microsoft acquisition of Great Plains Software. Today, I'm extremely happy to celebrate my 2nd year of blogging on the Microsoft Dynamics Partner Community blog. It has definitely been a great ride so far. I also surpassed my 13th year combined at GPS/MS on Friday, April 1, but enough about me! :-)

    The Numbers

My rough estimate puts me somewhere close to 500 total posts since launching two years ago. For those of you crunching numbers, I try to blog once a day every weekday, but I still have to fit in some vacation time here and there. In March, the blog received over 10,000 combined views/visitors/visits ranking it in the top 10% of blogs hosted on the MSDN blog platform. A huge thank you to all of the regular blog followers!

    Participate in the Community

As much as it would be great to just simply plug the Microsoft Dynamics Partner Community blog today, there are also a lot of great Microsoft employees and Microsoft partners managing blogs on a daily or weekly basis. One of the great ways to stay connected to these numerous blogs is by visiting the Microsoft Dynamics Community. The Community website hosts and syndicates 150+ bloggers across the Microsoft Dynamics ecosystem. Many of whom have been blogging much, much longer than me. Most of the blogs openly reside on the website, and are therefore accessible to the general public. We also have a few partner specific blogs found within the private partner community on the Community website.

How Business Solution Partners Uses Microsoft Dynamics ERP Offers to Increase Sales

Over the next few months, I’ll be highlighting various marketing and sales efforts partners are making to drive more business throughout the remainder of FY11 by leveraging current Microsoft Dynamics ERP offers.

Microsoft partner, Business Solution Partners, recently launched a "Get a Quick Quote Now" banner on their homepage, and they are promoting the quick quote tool and the discounted offers by using a variety of Adwords campaigns.

    As David Smooha, CEO, explains:

"The [Microsoft Dynamics ERP] Buy 1, Get 3 Promotion has been a great way to get smaller growing companies to move to Microsoft Dynamics GP now. When you tell a prospect they are getting 67% off of Microsoft Dynamics GP it gets a dialogue going quickly. [The] Buy 1, Get 3 Promotion is a great way to seed pilot programs at your larger prospects."

Business Solution Partners is a Microsoft Gold ERP and Silver CRM competency partner located in Roslyn, New York. They have been selling and implementing Microsoft Dynamics solutions since 1994.

    Learn More about Offers

There a variety of promotions and offers available for a limited time between now and June 2011 for United States based existing customers and prospective customers. Visit PartnerSource to access the FY11 Offer Summary Sheets for complete details.
