A few days ago, when I received an email from a friend, I could not recognize any of the characters in the email. It turned out that the web email has a feature - the user can set encoding for emails. The auto-select encoding did not choose the correct encoding for the email message. As a user, I needed to choose the right encoding from the “More Actions” menu in the web mail. It is a little surprising...

Today we had our first PM Offsite event, sponsored by our new leader . It is very exciting to see how much the PM team has grown since I joined in 2006 (note the halo above the team). The purpose of the event is for PMs to stop their busy day jobs and use our current products, feel the pain of the customer and learn some new technology related to the embedded business. In the first half of...

Proving that snail mail is still good for some things, I found an excellent article in the March, 2008 issue of IEEE-USA Today’s Engineer I just pulled out of my mail box. In the article Help wanted: Embedded Engineers , Mark Anderson describes embedded products, their development and what it takes to be a good embedded engineer. He goes on to explain that few universities prepare their engineering...

In the newsgroup today I came across this post, here's the original question and my answer below that (but in this blog post I actually cleaned up some of my original typos :-) ). Question from the NG: I recently installed the Embedded Studio, and must not have been paying particular attention, so as a consequence the Windows Embedded Data folder ended up on the drive I use for downloads, and...

Mike Glass recently joined our team as our Group Program Manager for Embedded Windows (XPe). He has just started a blog that he hopes to post to at least once a week- see his latest postings from his recent trip to the European Microsoft Innovation Center ( EMIC ) and Embedded World in Germany. I have added a link on the left to Mike's blog so it is easier to navigate to and stay on top of all things...
