I normally get some value from your blogs and find them interesting... but wow - this article hit really hit home. Do you give horoscope readings too, maybe channel miss Cleo? I’m an SDE that just transitioned to a new team and new role 2 weeks ago and struggling with all the challenges you mentioned.. and hoping the road-side taco won't bite me back. Man - this advice was a godsend – just what I needed. Amazing insight at just the right time. THANK-YOU!

A really valuable post.

Starting a new job is a humiliating experience for most of us. You're suddenly a 'nobody' who can't remember anyone's name.

My Dad's advice on starting a job always helped me get over the distressing feeling of being in over my head and having made a huge mistake. It turns out it's a common feeling, so just ride it out.

"If you can make it through the first day, you'll get to the end of the first week. If you can make it through the first week, you'll survive the first month. After the first month, the job's yours for life."
