The ISO announced today the publication of the final text of ISO/IEC 29500, the Office Open XML specification. Doug Mahugh’s post on this has some relevant links regarding the process going forward.

Open XML is a pleasure to work with. When I started participating in this process, the most important thing for me was the high impact that this technology can have on how we work together. As I’ve worked with a large number of customers, I have personally found that my predictions of the usefulness and relevance of this standard have been borne out.
