HP announces line of hardware appliances build on System Center Data Protection Manager

HP introduced a new line of data protection products built on Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager at Storage Networking World Europe.  The HP ProLiant DL 100 G2 and HP ProLiant DL 380 G4 Data Protection Storage Servers (DPSSs) help eliminate complexity for customers with one-click data protection that is easier to use and deploy than other offerings. The network-attached storage appliances are built around Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager and Windows Storage Server 2003.

Fully configured and optimized out-of-the-box for disk-based protection of Windows file server environments, DPSSs provide near continuous data protection for Windows file servers, combined with simple end-user file recovery. These servers can be configured for small and mid-size businesses as well as for enterprises that need data protection for corporate and branch office file servers. The DL100 G2 server starts at $5,499 for a 1-terabyte model ranging up to $20,499 for a 6-Tbyte unit. The DL380 G4 is priced at $54,999 for a 9-Tbyte model. Both server types are available Sept. 26, according to HP.
