Checking and protecting a font

Question:

How does one check if a font one has created already exists or one that is similar already exists and how does one then go about obtaining rights to it, like a copyright or patent?

Hey, can anyone help? I'm looking for a font and I know what it looks like but the name escapes me. Its retro looking and you see it on a lot of teen t-shirts. Its got 3 outlines per letter. the outlines don't close.

Yeah, I don't really see the problem with this blog being called "fontblog".. the other one isn't even in English.

Great to see the typography team finally have a blog!
I'm not a type guy myself, but I'm interested in the technologies behing fonts and been checking your /typography website every now and then since IE4 beta and the whole Webdings and WEFT wave. Can't wait to read about the work you did for Vista.

BTW, Microsoft Reader is still an impressive piece of work for ebooks. I guess it was a bit too early to generate the interest you hooped for, but the time will come.
If I could make one request to your team, it would be not to drop that product and to try to push the ebook concept once again in some years, once we have good flexible screens.
In the meantime, a new version with support for Vista DRM and all the "planned updates" such as printing and dual pages mode would really help early adopters.

My first question: How do we deal with the fact that there are two Fontblogs now (see http://www.fontblog.de)? I’ve startet my Fontblog in February 2004 under the Name FontShop Notizen, since the beginning of 2005 my weblog is called Fontblog.
