We have had some excellent entries in the Tech.Ed Flair T-Shirt competition.
I had to put them all onto my blog. Great work all of you.

Today I got home from my trip to Atlanta. What a tiring trip. I'm trying to stay awake until tonight so that I can adjust my circadian rhythm.
It was terrific to catch up with Robert Scoble yesterday in Atlanta. We had a great chat about life the universe and eveything, and then we shared a cab to the airport. I had a long journey back to Sydney ahead. Little did I realize my humble post on Sunday would be heard around the world. hehe.
So, now I'm home catching up on email (884 unread emails) and outstanding rss feeds (9952 unread feeds), but I can tell you that all the hot buzz at the moment is MSN's Virtual Earth - Go Team!!!

On the shuttle coming back from the attendee party at Six Flags Over Georgia I bumbed into fellow aussie Jonathan Wells. Jono is a PM in the Developer Division, working for John "Grumpy" Montgomery, focusing on mobility, he setup the Smart Client Developer Center, did a tour downunder last year, etc etc.
Actually, he WAS a PM. He has recently started a new job, as an Architecure Evangelist in LA, where he will undoubtable endup doing stuff with those folks in Hollywood. Good one dude, welcome to the joys of working in the field and enjoy the new role.

So, I am sitting in the CNN Center Plaza in Atlanta (My Location on Virtual Earth), drinking a tall Americano from the local Starbucks, waiting to meet Robert Scoble - we hooked up, he got his departure time wrong.
Anyways, I turn on my laptop and access the free hotspot and the first thing I see is a IM message from Dr Neil Roodyn, who is in London at the moment. He sends me a url to new site he has been working on - viaVirtualEarth, a developer community for the newly launched Virtual Earth. Already? Isn't this thing meant to be launched tomorrow? Well, I guess it's tomorrow somewhere in the world.
So, I want a blog part that shows where I am on virtual earth. Come on - get building. I've got a plane to catch.

I'm putting down my thoughts following the past few days at MGB here in Atlanta.
It was a 3 day event - I've already covered some stuff about the Big Day, but I failed to mention a few other hilights from the sessions, like MSN Virtual Earth and it's Location Finder feature - this is where I am as I write this
Anyways, back to MGB.
Day 2 & 3 I followed tracks based on my role, which is management with the Developer & Platform Evangelism Team. The key take away for me from the session was that the leadership teams in Redmond really listen to the folks in the field and take the stuff that works in one area, massage it a little and make this available for others to benefit. This is pretty amazing, in that we can act locally, do the the right thing for our customers and our actions are then felt globally. When I first started at Microsoft, I was told that if I wanted to affect change, I needed to work in Redmond - which I did for a few years. Now, if I want to affect change, I need to go out and do stuff, be successful (or sometimes even fail ) and I can contribute my learnings to the rest of the organisation. This is pretty darn cool.
For me, my focus for this year continues to be the same - we have a major product launch, we have some new products on the horizon to evangelise, we have to continue connecting with the diffferent technical communities - developer, academic and it profession, and most importantly I need to continue developing my team (across Australia & New Zealand) so that they can continue doing fantastic things for these communities as Andrew, Dave Glover, Chuck, Dave Lemphers, Michael, Jeff ,Deeps, Paul, Nigel and Darryl do every single day.
Some days, I really love my job!
