I had my surgery one year ago today. It's really hard to believe it was only a year ago, the scar on my belly is a constant reminder of the 64 staples. Here's a recap - @ home again, facing the inevitable, Incredible Shrinking Frank, It's official - I have a date with my surgeon, Post From DIARIST on my XDA II, surgery over, Unexpected benefit of MSN Spaces, big news day
So, how am I doing these days? Well, I'm feeling much better, that's for sure!
I have slacked off with my exercising for the last few months, which isn't good. I need to get back into that.I've put a bit of the weight back on, which also isn't good.
I'm taking some time off over the next few weeks. It's school holidays in NSW, so I need to help my wife wrangle the 4 kids. Well actually my 2 big boys will be playing with the XBOX 360 for the next little while, so I'll be wrangling the 2 little ones. The odds are in our favour - 2 adults to 2 kids. Or are they??
To the 200 folks heading to Wagga for CodeCampOZ - have a great time. I'm sorry I wont be there again this year
Catch you all in May!!

The next MSDN Flash is about to hit people's inbox this week. It's a bit late.We want it out on a Tuesday, but this week it will be coming out on Wednesday evening/Thursday morning.
This edition has a guest editor - lil' David Lemphers. I seem to be mentioning Dave a fair bit in my blog. It's not really intentional, but it's kinda like when you were in primary school and the class mater moved your seat to the one next to his desk.
Anyways, it's a good edition - keep an eye out for it in your inbox. We also have an archive of past editions online
We're going to have another guest editor for the next edition too. More on that later

Last week I looked at my top 5 posts as reported by BlogBeat
Now, I've expanded this to the top 10 posts.
Interesting, Yes?

I've change some of the apps that I have installed on my K-Jam, as well as tweaked my Today screen. It's changed a bit from last week
I removed a number of the Spb applications - Spb Diary, Spb Pocket Plus, Spb Weather, but I've kept Spb GPRS Monitor. This saved me almost 10mb of space
I've gone to Magic Button for my task management - it has a small memory footprint and works really well.
DKToday is still there, as well as Egress, as well as the standard items for Date, Messaging and Device Lock.
This evening my K-Jam's Today Screen looks like this.
And yes, I am running Office Communicator Mobile.

I got an email from my young padawan David Lemphers regarding a search engine for code and code related information called Krugle.
It's in beta, so I have signed up and hope to get a chance to put it through it's paces.

I had a meeting today with Dan Warne, News Editor of APC Magazine. He came in to talk to Jeff Putt and myself, about all things Vista.
I met Dan last year at Tech.Ed and I have been reading his "personal ramblings" for a while now.
It was mainly Jeff's interview, but I interjected every now and then with pearls of wisdom, such as :
Good to see you again Dan. Looking forward to see what news you break next.

Last week, we had a presentation from a visiting executive, Jeff Raikes, President, Microsoft Business Division
He spoke to the company about the new People-Ready Business initiative (which I like) and then we had a change to ask questions.
Ever the diplomate I asked 2 questions of our visiting president - one about Office Live and the other about those silly Dinosaur ads.
You know those ads. The ones about Office having evolved, and people wandering around with Dinosaur heads.
He handled the questions like the professional that he is, which impressed me and the rest of the folks. He was open and honest and humble. I liked that.
The Office Live question is actually a FAQ online:
Q: Can I sign up now for Microsoft Office Live? A: At this time, Microsoft is offering a beta version of its Office Live services only to a test group of small business owners and managers in the United States. At the end of the beta period (late 2006), these services will become available to all U.S. small-business customers. Also in late 2006, we will initiate additional beta programs in select markets outside the United States.

The dinosaur ads had caused some ripples inside and outside, but I for one liked them. I'm a sucker for a silly ad. It breaks through the noise and people notice them. It's not a slick ad campaign, and that's another thing that appeals to me. There's even a Microsoft Office Dinosaur Screensaver.
Thanks Jeff for taking the time to answer my 2 random questions.
