I've been looking at registry tweaks for the K-Jam and found a wonderful one recently.
Just add the keys below to the registry. (I use the Mobile Registry Editor, which allows me to do this via my PC)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"] "DLL"="netui.dll" "Order"=dword:00000000 "Enabled"=dword:00000001 "Type"=dword:00000004
Select the new Wireless setting on the Today Plugin page and you will see the network carrier name and status, the active WiFi Access point, and the Bluetooth status on the Today screen. It works with all AKU2 Roms, so it's not limited to the K-Jam.
Here's where I found this and other tweaks: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
This is what it looks like on my phone - it's the 3rd entry on the page.

This year's MEDC will be held on the 25th of May in Melbourne.
The speakers consist of a number of luminaries in the Mobile and Embedded space:
More info on the MEDC Australia site.
Unfortunately I will be missing the MEDC this year, as I will be at WebStock in Wellington.

I found a really cool app called WiFiFoFum which I had to install on my K-Jam.
It's the best WiFi scanner and war driving software for Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC and Smartphone edition AND it uses the latest features of .net compact framework v2.
This thing just rocks.
I turned it on while I have been driving around for the past few days and have collected some interesting information.
I have identified 1039 wireless access points, and 445 of them have WEP turned off!
In terms of SSIDs used. here's the top 10:
There are also some really weird/funny SSIDs used. My favourites include:
I couldn't make these up if I tried!!
The app can connect to a GPS and record LAT/LONG information. I don't have a GPS, but I reckon it should save the information from the PhoneCellBroadcast information to give some basic location information.
Anyways, if you are curious as to the WiFi networks around you, grab the app and give it a run. I'll keep it on a bit longer and see how many more networks I can find.

I am back in the office today after a bit of a
break (which seems to have lasted an eternity)
Technically I started back on Monday, but I spent the last 2 days locked up
in meetings in a shabby
hotel - our intern Bernard
comments about the experience.
I've got a pile of stuff ahead of me, which includes getting back into my
blog posts (a lot has happened and I have lots to say), but first I need to
catchup on some administrative duties.
