Steve Vamos Talks Innovation on ABC Radio

I'm driving home tonight, following my crazy day, listening to PM on ABC Local Radio, catching up on the latest Warnie news, and I hear Mark Colvin interview Steve Vamos

Australian whiz bound for US Microsoft gig

One of Australia's top information technology executives is moving on to bigger things. Steve Vamos runs Microsoft Australia and New Zealand, but soon he'll be leaving for the United States to run Microsoft's international online services. That means he'll be in charge of things like hotmail, the msn network and the new windows live. But before he goes, he wants Australia to be more aware of the need for innovation in the wired and globalised world.

  • definition of innovation:

"Microsoft to finally offer customer service which doesn't suck... or even better offer products which won't break after a short period of use."

...can I say xbox360? It seems innovation in Microsofts book means releasing a follow up product which actually sucks more than the original.

Guys, get your products right before you start going on radio beating your drum.

I am really tired of companies trying to sell mediocracy as innovation!

Penicillin was innovation, commercially produced electricity was innovation...

... now what new thing which fundamentally changed the world did Microsoft introduce? Please don't say Vista.
