Authoring content in the Enterprise is costly. Managing fragments of content can significantly improve the efficiency, consistency and quality of Enterprise publishing and Document Assembly by re-using content, enforcing brand and quality and aligning to content consumer requirements. Content fragments can be managed in SharePoint where permissions, approvals, metadata, versions, retention schedule and more can be applied at the fragment level. Once fragments are managed within the SharePoint repository, they can be used for assembling/publishing documents by using business rules (server side) or for dynamically assembling/publishing content by a user. In the short video below, content fragments are managed within SharePoint, allowing to assemble content that is relevant to a specific role and by a content segment. Then, using the ThirtySix software SmartDocs solution, a user can easily find relevant content and assemble a document. Since SmartDocs is using SharePoint as a fragment (snippet) repository, the SharePoint content management features can be respected within SmartDocs.
