OK, so maybe I'm a little slow on the uptake. I've had friends in the community who discussed monad (next-gen Windows command shell), and I didn't really pay much attention because I don't spend a great deal of time at the command line.
I'm in Redmond this week for a special event, and one of the sessions included a demo of the Monad shell. This is not your father's command line. Imagine taking the Windows command shell, adding a lot of the power of a *nix command shell, and throw in integration with .net (such as the ability to easily output the result of a command to excel, or to a chart, etc.). Really cool stuff.
Here are some Monad links.
