Wanted to pass along a couple of useful links found via Steve Andrews on twitter, each deals with the topic of making transparency in PNGs, something that isn’t supported by default with IE 6, work via a couple of hacks.

Solution 1, which has been out for a while, works for both IE 5.5 and 6.

Solution 2 is a little more sophisticated, and also describes some of the pitfalls of the workarounds.

Given that I’m using a transparent PNG as the background image for my blog, I may try one of these out to see how well it works.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how many of my readers are still on IE 6 or earlier…let me know in the comments, or via the contact link.
