What a spring we’re having here in Mid-Atlantic! We’ve had visits from Scott Wiltamuth of the Visual Studio team, the .NET Rocks Visual Studio 2010 Road Trip, the CMAP Code Camp (where Dane Morgridge and I recorded live for the Community Megaphone Podcast), and that’s just in the last couple of weeks. What a great time to be a developer in Mid-Atlantic.

  • Pittsburgh .NET Users Group - Windows Workflow (WF) in .NET 4.0 / Visual Studio 2010

  • Microsoft Developer Dinner Series for Partners: Overview of the Reactive Extensions for .NET/Silverlight/JavaScript

    Come hear how the Reactive Extensions ("Rx") framework takes care of the difficult parts of asynchronous programming by viewing asynchronous computations as push-based collections. Instead of focusing on the hard parts, developers now can start dreaming about the endless possibilities of orchestrating and synchronizing computations at a high-level of abstraction. In this session we cover the design philosophy of the Reactive Extensions for .NET/Silverlight/JavaScript, rooted on the deep duality between the well-known iterator and the observer design patterns. From this core understanding, we start looking at various combinators and operators defined over observable collections, as provided by Rx, driving concepts home by a bunch of samples.
