You still don't understand what I mean. Now, it is already 2008-11-22 in Hong Kong. I still can't use the promotion code to register the exam.
Let me tell you a story. 3 years ago, I registered the SQL 2005 beta exams at the first date when they were available. I visited the test center at the correct time, but the exam system couldn't start. The reason is obvious that there is an time zone difference. The contraints somewhere in the exam system didn't use the local time. The registration system allowed me to select the first date of the beta exam period, but the exam engine had an additional hidden constraint. The test center needed to call Prometric supports to make new appointments for me, and I wasted the day. The promotion code problem now make me afraid that such bug is not fixed after 3 years.
I saw 71-505 listed last night (around 11:00 pm Pacific Time) itself in Prometric site and tried to register but got the error message 'Discount is not offered for this Client.' when I entered the promo code.
I tried again today and got the same message.
I called Prometric and was told to contact Microsoft to validate the promo code.
Now that explanation is much clearer than the first one.
I'm also sorry to say that I don't control Prometric and they are the ones responsible for fixing their bugs in the system.
I tell them when I want my exams to be available for registration based on a date. I expect that date to be converted correctly by them based on differing time zones.
If there are issues where these dates are not being met, then I need to know that so I can communicate these issues to them. I am unable to effect change immediately however.
I've contacted Prometric who directed me to MCP support, from there they told me to call ITAcademy then from there TechNet Support..
After 1.5 hours on the phone I received the answer "Wait until later today."
Working on it folks.
Thanks for looking into this for all of us.
I am able to register now!
I finally was able to register.
Many thanks to Gerry!
Thank you Gerry!
I registered the exam today and scheduled it to start on the first available date, 25 NOV. (no confusion now?) I hope the exam can be started at the correct time.
I don't know the details behind the exam engine. 3 years ago, the Prometric support told me that Prometric exam delivery program needed to get the exam contents from Microsoft. It was the content source service at Microsoft having the time constraint which caused the problem.
I will contact Prometric and ensure that when you arrive, the exam is NOT ready to start. :-)
There are many different aspects to a beta exam hand-off however, I won't go into which side the issue is on, as I'm sure you can understand.
The exam started normally.
Now is the time to wait....
Has anyone been able to register for this exam in December? The local test centres only had slots available this week and I'm tied up with work commitments so I can't sit it now. I was wondering if Prometric have possibly entered the availability incorrectly. I do understand there may just be no 4 hour slots left.
I was able to register for the test to be taken on 12/14/2008. I am in Southern California.
Try calling Prometric; may be it is something to do with your test center.
I just registered today and scheduled to take it on the last day it was available locally, 12/12 at noon. The promo code worked and everything seemed fine. Since I just passed the 2.0 version, I am hoping to focuse on just 3.5 "stuff" and pass it again. I certainly appreciate the chance to take it for free!
